Diamond Platnumz drops new hit song featuring legendary Koffi Olomide

WCB Founder, Tanzanian media mogul, and multiple hit songs musician Diamond Platnumz (Naseeb Abdul) has finally released audio for his awaited new song featuring legendary Soukous singer Koffi Olomide (Antoine Christophe Agbepa Mumba) whom he recently welcomed to his Tanzania home.

The song which Diamond has said he started working on back in February-March of 2020 while in France, when lockdowns were beginning across the world due to Covid-19, is a deep dive into the Soukous type of music from the Democratic Republic of Congo. Produced by Laizer Classic (Ayo Laizer!), the beats are reminiscent of the classical Lingala music loved by many Africans.

Diamond’s style here is very different from the usual Bongo Flavour melodies, and for everyone who may not understand differences between Lingala and Swahili, one would confuse Diamond for a DRC singer. Koffi’s style remains the same however; a couple of adlibs, a strong but short verse, and the usual mentioning of names.

A sure hit, the song currently 20hrs since its release is already trending on YouTube, Audiomack, and Boomplay with close to over 1 million total streams.

Our favourite lyric: usiniguse usinitachi, tusalimiane kwa miguu, mwenzako naogopa corona

Translation: don’t touch me, let’s greet with our legs, I fear corona.
