The 18th edition of the Sports Personality of the Year Award (Soya) Gala is set to go down tonight at the iconic Bukhungu Stadium, Kakamega County. This is the first time the Western Region will hold the event that seeks to reward the country’s top-performing athletes. Previous events were held in Nairobi and Mombasa.
The Gala begins at 6 pm and will have athletes being honoured in 10 categories with the Kakamega County Governor Wycliffe Oparanya as the guest of honour, while the former international footballer Dennis Oliech as the sports celebrity guest.
Kenya’s sportsmen and women had outstanding performances globally with performances, globally making this year’s Soya gala awards competitive and too close to call. The sporting scene waits with bated breath to know who will be the 2021 Sportsman and Sportswoman of the Year.
previous winners of the competition include Julius go Ezekiel kemboi Eliud kipchoge and so many other sports personality personalities. Kakamega County Government, Lotto Foundation, CPF Financial Services, National Social Security Fund (NSSF) and Safaricom are the event’s sponsors.
